Improvements

There has been an aviary in Victoria Park since at least the early 1900’s. Many people have shared their memories of the aviary going back over generations and consider it a key attraction which is why we have redeveloped the aviary for visitors and animals.

The following upgrades have taken place throughout the development of The Aviary:

  • Resurfaced the enclosure areas, including new draining gullies for each of the four areas to provide a clean and safe environment for the birds and animals.
  • Cleaned and repainted the external structure.
  • Viewing panels added at different heights to allow better visibility for the community.
  • Added additional features of interest for the birds and animals to make their habitat more stimulating.
  • Added planting, bringing in natural features and shade.
  • Interpretation panels will be added so visitors can learn more about the birds and mammals.
