Plans for a new play area

You told us that you would like facilities for younger children to play in the park, which is close to the existing older children’s play area.

A new and exciting play area is planned for younger children, from toddlers through to five year olds, and children of all abilities. Younger children will have their own area for a challenging and an imaginative play experience.

Creating a sense of place

The design of the new play area is based on the historic Portsmouth fortifications that were located within the western area of the park between the fountain and the aviary. This theme allows us to link the play experience with the heritage of the park.

What is included

  • Accessible paths from the existing path
  • A bespoke ‘fort’ climbing structure with a timber low ‘look-out’ wall, ramps and a mini slide to a boardwalk
  • Sand pits
