Designed with the community

The Victoria Park project is being designed with the community. Supported by a team of design, conservation, landscape, activity and interpretation experts, we are involving local people at each step of the process. Through networking, interviews, online surveys, focus groups, meetings, exhibitions, social media and our website, we are engaging a wide range of individuals, groups and communities to hear as many voices as possible.

So far, we have involved over 200 organisations, schools and individuals. 1509 people answered our survey and over 90 people have taken part in focus groups and workshops.

If you would like to be involved in the project please get in touch using the details below, sign up to our newsletter or find us on Facebook.

Did you know?

There are over 6,000 local Friends of Parks groups in the UK. They support people who want to volunteer for the benefit of their community and care about vital public green spaces. A national federation exists to represent their activities, issues and concerns and strengthen their passionate and knowledgeable voices.

Friends group and volunteering

Would you like to get involved in the project to revive Victoria Park? Our Friends of Victoria Park groups is open to anyone who like to help shape the future of the park.

You can get involved in all different areas of park life, including gardening and wildlife, conservation and heritage, community engagement and education. Join like-minded people and be part of the change at Victoria Park.

In future, there will also be a number of formal and informal volunteer and employed roles available at the park. We will be advertising these as they become available. Please get in touch or sign up to our newsletter to hear more.

The aviary

We want to create a better environment for the birds and animals in our care and use the aviary as an educational space

Play and activities

Come and influence what is provided for children at the park in terms of equipment and activities to excite and educate
